Characters: Sir Yugi and Sir Mahaado
Setting: a random castle hallway, about four hours prior to the joust.
Rating: PG
Summary: The personal feud between these two knights just couldn't wait four more hours for the joust to begin. They just had to settle their score now.
Yuugi staggered all the way through the chambers. He was healed at the pavillion, but it would be a while before he would be able to walk without any pain. Sir Mahaado was leaning against the wall, watching the little knight struggle.
'Damn him straight to the fiery depths of hell,' Yuugi thought, watching his opponent knight mock him.
"You'll be no threat at the joust tonight." he smirked. "I hope I will have the pleasure of defeating you again. Only this time, permanently."
"I will get you yet, fool," Yuugi snarled. "Even if it means my life."
"There's not that much of it left to lose, is there?"
"I am aware of my injuries, and I am not afraid to sacrifice myself for mine kingdom."
"If your skull is as brittle as your ribs, I should be able to finish you off in one blow. But then again, I'd expect nothing less from a Ranterburian."
"I assure you, I will fight with all I have."
"Like I said, that won't be much." he fiddled with his sword idly.
Yuugi thrust his sword out of its sheath and pointed it at Mahaado's face. "I have more than you believe."
Mahaado quickly drew his and parried it. Yuugi struck back, and aimed for Mahaado's neck.
The knight dodged the attack, sliding in to knock Yugi off balance. With very little effort, Mahaado tripped him off his feet. He lowered his blade, pointing it at the other knight's neck.
But Yuugi braced his fall with his own sword and free hand, and parried Mahaado's sword.
Mahaado swung again, keeping the shorter knight on the ground. Yuugi swung back, slicing Mahaado's hand. The knight winced with pain.
"You will regret that!!" he screamed, taking the sword into his other hand. The swings came faster and even stronger after that.
With both hands, Yuugi blocked Mahaado's every move. Unfortunately, he knew he would eventually be unable to keep up with his opponent's speed and power. And that was true. As one of the strikes tore through one of Yugi's legs.
Yuugi bell back down, but still kept his sword up. He had to be faithful to Ranterbury...
"I'll finish you here and now, whelp!" Mahaado kept attacking.
Yuugi swung his sword back, and hopped with his good leg, striking Mahaado's shoulder.
Filled with rage, the other knight hardly even noticed the wound, until it became more difficult to hold his sword with that arm. As the blood ran down his tunic, he was forced to grip it with both hands as he swung. And Yuugi suddenly remembered why he was dubbed the Knightly Lord of Rantebury. Though small, he knew his ways in battle. Yuugi then jabbed Mahaado's thigh with the sword, causing him to fall.
Mahaado's last strike before he fell made a nice gash in Yugi's right cheek. As he hit the ground, his sword slipped from his grasp and slid across the stone floor.
Yuugi grabbed his cheek, feeling the blood drip on his hand, all the way down to his arm. He staggered, but reminded himself that he should have been victorious. He had finally gotten his revenge on Mahaado, that damned foreigner! Said foreign knight just growled.
Yuugi dropped to his knees as the blood left his body. He was victorious... "Long live Rantebury..." he whispered wearily.
The other knight was equally weary. "This is not over..."
